2012 Season - Falstaff
American Singers' Opera Project, 2012 will produce Verdi's Falstaff, in Italian with large ensembles in English. The opera will be triple cast, but the experience of ASOP is more than just learning an operatic role. We will offer daily movement classes, as well as classes in acting, Make-up, audition techniques, Vocal Health and Opera History. There is also one-on-one coaching with opera professionals, nightly Master Classes, Master Classes on French repertoire, African American Art Song, and crossover. There is also an Aria Evening so that everyone has a chance to shine!
All roles are open, and scholarships are available. We are "going green" this year, and all auditions will be held online at Yaptracker.com (see "How to Apply" for the link).
ASOP's faculty consists of internationally renowned, seasoned professionals. All are dedicated to providing the training, insights and knowledge of professional standards that singers need to take their place in the world of professional opera.

Care of the Singing Voice: How to Make Your Voice Last a Lifetime. As vocal athletes, singers are at a high risk for developing voice problems. Operatic singers in particular need their voices to be optimally healthy to be successful in their singing careers. It is essential for singers to learn techniques and strategies for maximizing vocal stamina, longevity and wellness. This session will cover the basics of vocal anatomy and physiology for singing, common vocal injuries, how vocal injuries are evaluated and treated, and preventative voice care for singers.
